the gazette

Well, my June art show at the local public library has ended. I have to say that I'm truly shocked and amazed by it's success. Of the 11 paintings that I put up, I sold 5 paintings at the library and one painting that I didn't even have a chance to put up in the show. I'm amazed and encouraged.

If you are curious as to which originals sold the list is thus:

So that now leaves me with I more room at the house for new paintings, YAY! Speaking of new paintings...things have kind of stagnated. I've hit creative blocks. I can get really far into a painting and some really cool colors and textures but then things peter off and I can't go any further with the painting. So I'm stuck with unfinished, directionless work. *sigh* I guess it's a good thing though. I'm sitting back and rethinking how I do my paintings and the direction that I believe that my work should be going. Hopefully, I can have something new up this month, I really don't want to sulk in this creative block for too long.

Artist's block comes every now and then. My experience is that no point to dig into it too hard, just put down the brush, go out, read some books and inspiration will fly back into you before you know it.
