This was a reclaimed canvas. This had some artwork that I did right after college on it. I didn't particularly like the image so I covered it up with another painting. I was experimenting with using Gold Leaf. Not sure I like this painting...I don't know what's wrong with it, but I think something is missing...maybe it's because it's an experiment and it is was it is.

hmm.
i dont think anything is missing.
you've got some great textures in there and i like the way you blended the blues and whites.

i like the idea of the gold block. however it just doesnt seem to jive with the rest of what is going on.
it's the only 'warm' tone on the canvas and just sort of seems like it's laying on there. perhaps if you added some warmer tones to the blues and whites-- something to make it a bit more cohesive with the background.

either that or try a shape that is more round instead of square.

nothing is missing. i think it's perfect the way it is. i dont think warmer tones are needed. the gold is completely warm in itself. like a dangling being in a frozen space just peaking into another vastness of cold, but realizing itself is the only warmth it needs.. even though you've expressed this is an experiment..it's goregous

I don't think round would be a good route to take...I think maybe a bit more warmer tones somewhere else...maybe some subtle touches here and there.

no problem.. i think some warmer elements would work.. even if you added some grunged flecks of gold around the image.

I dont think that anything is missing.Perhaps you can add a warmer tones(ochre) on down left side?!
